VADODARA: Five members of a notorious gang of dacoits were nabbed by the Panchmahal police. The gang was involved in a series of dacoities in the Panchmahal district and had injured several persons seriously while committing the crime.
The gang comprising around 20 persons had created havoc in the region during the last couple of months. It is suspected to be involved in at least five robberies in the district.

Police sources claim that the five accused have already admitted to committing three robberies.
A team of Rajgadh police arrested - Dipa alias Deepsinh Maju Bhuriya, his brother Popat Bhuriya, Vasant alias Ramsinh Samarsinh Mohaniya, his brother Kishan Mohaniya and Bharat Laxman Vaadi - from their residences. While Dipa and Popat are residents of the Biliya village in Dhanpur taluka of Dahod district, the remaining three accused reside in the Sajoi village of the taluka.
In the wake of repeated incidents of dacoities, Panchmahal police had formed a special team comprising police officials from the local crime branch, special operations group, Halol police and Rajgadh police. Halol police inspector V R Bajpai said that the modus operandi of the gang was typical to that of ones from the tribal areas of Dahod and Panchmahal district. "We worked on information, collected electronic evidence to zero down upon the accused," said Bajpai.
The gang has so far admitted to offences in the Dantod village near Ghoghamba, Jepura near Pavagadh and Trikampura near Halol.
At all the three places houses were targeted late in the night and booty was robbed. Around 10 persons were injured due to attacks by the gang.
