According to the police, Motavad, who was posted in the wireless control room, had gone on leave without taking permission. "We have learnt that he went on leave without informing the police inspector for about five days. When he was asked about his absence he got upset and consumed poison. We are inquiring as to what exactly led to him taking the extreme step," said Vadodara DSP (rural), Sharad Singhal.
Singhal has asked deputy superintendent of police (headquarters) to inquire into the matter and submit a report. The police said that he had gone on leave and went to meet Vala to submit a report. Vala scolded him for going on leave without taking proper permission.
The duo entered into heated arguments following which Motavad came out of Vala's cabin and consumed pesticide. He also reportedly called up his wife and told her that he had consumed poison and asked her to file a complaint against Vala.
Singhal said that Motavad was already facing another inquiry for going on leave without taking permission.
