Nikita Soni is the only girl from the city who has cleared the all India entrance exam for masters in dental surgery (MDS) course this year. Soni, who has completed her bachelors in dental surgery from Pipariya-based K M Shah Dental College, has cleared the MDS entrance conducted by
All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) with all India rank 18.
"I am happy that I am one of the three candidates from Gujarat who has been able to clear this tough entrance exam.
Prayers of my parents, teachings of my professors and my own hard work has made it possible," an ecstatic Soni told TOI on Sunday.
While the AIIMS MDS entrance was conducted on January 8, the results were declared in the wee hours of Sunday. "Now, I will be able to choose any of the government dental colleges for my master course," she said.
For this local girl, the AIIMS MDS entrance is the fourth entrance exam she has cleared in first attempt. Earlier, she had cleared three other entrance exams conducted by Consortium
of Medical Dental and Engineering College of Karnataka (Comed-K), Association of Management of Unaided Private Medical and Dental Colleges of Maharashtra (AMUPMDC) and Manipal University. While in Comed-K exams which were conducted on February 12, she finished with All India Rank (AIR) 16th, at the AMUPMDC's test which was conducted on January 15 her AIR was 15th. At the test conducted by Manipal University on February 20, Soni's AIR was eighth.
