Vadodara: In an unusual accident, two persons died when their car plunged from an under-construction flyover near Ranoli Chowkdi on Monday morning.
Jitesh Kori and Sunil Chaudhary, both residents of Gandhinagar, died on the spot.
Police said that Kori drove over the flyover instead of taking a diversion and lost control over the vehicle. The car veered off the flyover and collapsed from the gap between two pillars.
"There were barricades and diversions boards.
It seems the duo got on the bridge from the gap between the barricades. The speeding car fell with a great velocity, killing both on the spot," said A P Parmar, Chhani police sub inspector .
The work on the flyover was halted since a few days as there were electric lines passing over the bridge. According to police, the authorities were working on transferring these wires underground.
Kori and Chaudhary worked together at a private gym. "While Soni worked as the manager of the gym, Chaudhary worked as a trainer. They were returning from Surat and going to Gandhinagar," said Parmar.
Parmar added that the bodies of the deceased were handed over to their kin.
"We have kept necessary hoardings and increase patrolling near the spot to prevent such accidents till the flyover is completed," said A A Saiyad, Chhani police inspector.
