VADODARA: Baroda left-arm spinner
Bhargav Bhatt was awarded the Madhavrao Scindia Award by the Board of Control for Cricket in India ( for bagging the highest number of wickets in the Ranji Trophy, 2010-11. Bhatt bagged 47 wickets in nine matches at an economy rate of 2.87 and helped Baroda reach the finals of the Ranji Trophy.
Shy off-the-field, Bhargav goes under complete makeover when bowling on the crease.
From staring at the batsman to aggressive appeals, he tries every trick in the book to get wickets. He began his first-class career in 2009-10 against Maharashtra but shot into limelight last season. When he got the news of the award on Wednesday evening he was practicing at Motibaug Ground for the Ranji tie against Delhi.
"I was told by Baroda Cricket Association (BCA) that I have got this award. I am very happy as this is the first prize I have got from the
BCCI. I am looking forward to putting up similar performance this season too," Bhatt told TOI. The 21-year-old spinner has played 14 first-class games and bagged 58 wickets at an economy rate of 3.09. He is also handy T20 player who plays for Kings XI Punjab in Indian Premier League (IPL).
