BCA to decide Munaf Patel’s role soon

Vadodara: The Baroda Cricket Association (BCA) managing committee will decide on former India pacer Munaf Patel’s role within a fortnight. The ex-cricketer has been hired as consultant by the association but his role in the set-up is yet to be defined.

“Patel is an experienced cricketer who has played the highest level of the game. His involvement in the association will help us in improving cricket at all levels. There is a suggestion to make him a part of the selection committee as well,” a BCA official said. “The decision will be taken after the new body takes over,” he added.

The present selection committee is embroiled in controversies after its chairman Leslie Fernandes threatened to resign from his post some days ago. Sources that the selection committee too would be overhauled after April 1. “Patel is definitely going to play an important role in the cricketing aspect but such decisions are taken after taking the appointee and managing committee members in confidence,” said an official.
