Bhargav Bhatt has been picked up for the 15- member Indian team that will participate in Emerging Players cricket tournament in Australia. The tournament will begin from August 1 and conclude on August 13. Bhatt got a call from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) three days ago.
He will replace a bowlerwho has been ruled out of the tournament due to injury. "I got a call from thecricket board informing me about my selection for the Emerging Playerstournament. I will leave for Bangalore on Saturday and the very next day I willleave for Australia.
It is a big opportunity for me to perform and Iam excited about it," Bhatt told TOI.
Bhatt, a student of ShreyasHigh School, had created sensation in Ranji 2010-11 season after becoming thehighest wicket taker when he bagged 47 wickets in nine Ranji matches. Hisperformance also helped Baroda reach the Ranji finals after a gap of 10 years.The left-arm spinner's career has seen a meteoric rise over last two seasons.His exploits on the field also earned him a berth in the IPL Kings XI Punjabteam. Bhatt bagged man of the match award in a match against Mumbai Indiansafter bagging four wickets.
He had started playing cricket abouteight years ago and he has been part of Baroda's U-16 and U-19 teams as well. Hemade his first class debut last year against Maharashtra at Pune where he baggedthree wickets.
