Youth arrested for raping 15-yr-old girl

Trichy: A 19-year-old youth was arrested here on Friday for raping a 15-year-old girl and getting her pregnant. As the girl is six months into her pregnancy, she cannot undergo an abortion.

The Fort all women police station (AWPS) in the city arrested B Shahul Hameed, an air-conditioner mechanic living in Natharsha Mosque Street based on a complaint filed by the girl’s mother, a housemaid from Ariyamangalam in Trichy. In her complaint, she said that Shahul Hameed sexually assaulted her daughter early this year and made her pregnant.

The girl’s mother used to take her to a house in Natharsha Mosque Street where she was works as a housemaid and would go to some other house for work after leaving her there. Shahul, the neighbour, had an acquaintance with the girl who is a Class 8 dropout.

Police said that they recently got a complaint from the mother. The investigation brought to light the crime and the medical check-up confirmed her pregnancy. Police registered a case under Section 5(j)(ii) read with 6 of POCSO Act.
