Work on Sanjeevi Nagar park to be completed in one week

Trichy: Addressing one of the long-time demands of the Sanjeevi Nagar residents, a public park being established by Trichy Corporation in the vicinity is nearing completion. With the minimal works pending, it is expected to be completed in a week span. Officials said that the public park could be inaugurated for public use subsequently.

Corporation sources said that the public park, estimated at a cost of Rs 54.29 lakh is being established with more emphasis on greenery in Sanjeevi Nagar behind the Trichy town railway station in ward number 8 falling under Srirangam zone of Trichy Corporation. Equipped with multiple kids play area and a yoga hall of 400 square feet space, officials said that the park will serve as an efficient recreational spot for the nearby Sanjeevi Nagar residents. “The spacious yoga hall can be utilized to conduct morning wellness classes for the residents. Wide enough tiled tracks would help a multiple number of people to walk at a time,” an official source with Trichy Corporation said. Sprawling for about 4,000 square feet, officials added that LED lights are installed to save power consumptions and to illuminate the park.

An open-air gym with 7 types of workout equipment such as tai-chi wheel and double cross walker is installed in the park to benefit senior citizens and women the most. As the Sanjeevi Nagar park is expected to be made available for public use in a weeks’ time, Srirangam zone officials said that works for Babu road park sprawling for 3,700 square feet area close to the East Boulevard road would be taken up in a short time. The civic body has appealed the residents’ welfare association to cooperate with the corporation in ensuring proper maintenance of such public parks.
