Work begins for community hall in Trichy’s ward 22
Trichy: Two years after the Trichy corporation's budget (2023-24) proposed a community hall in each of the five zones, the local body on Wednesday began work for a new community hall at Vamadam near Thillai Nagar in ward 22. Municipal administration minister K N Nehru laid the foundation for the Rs 1.7 crore project on Wednesday.The hall will primarily serve low-income group families to host events. It will come up on 6,000sqft of land near the Sastri Road area. The two-floor facility with a dining hall will accommodate 200 visitors at a time and is expected to be completed in a year.

The minister also inaugurated a multipurpose office for the local body on Bharathidasan Road, an ICDS centre at Selva Nagar, Karumandapam, and ward councillor offices in wards 28 and 55. The multipurpose office was constructed at Rs 2.1 crore and would likely house sanitary and engineering department officials.He also opened a new public distribution outlet at Raja Colony built using the MLA constituency development fund.
