Woman dies after falling off bike while avoiding stray dog

Trichy: A 40-year-old woman who fell off a two-wheeler after a stray dog darted across the road near Thiruverumbur has succumbed to her injuries.Police identified the deceased as S Malar of Keelavadikulam near Thiruverumbur. The accident occurred on Feb 10 when she was riding pillion on a motorcycle driven by her 20-year-old son, S Sakthivel. The duo were travelling along the Murungapettai–Pathalapettai road and had nearly reached the Chettiyarpettai crematorium when the incident took place. According to police, a stray dog suddenly crossed their path, prompting Sakthivel to apply the brakes abruptly. Malar reportedly lost her balance and fell onto the road, suffering severe head injuries in the impact. She was rushed to Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Government Hospital in Trichy and had been undergoing intensive care treatment. However, her condition worsened on Saturday evening and she died without responding to treatment. Thiruverumbur Police have registered a case and further investigation is underway.
