Welfare Party of India (WPI) has announced its list of candidates for four constituencies - Thondamuthur in Coimbatore -
SN Sikkandar, Trichy West - Y Jamal Mohammed, Vaniyambadi - Ismail and Krishnagiri - Syed Nazir - for the upcoming assembly elections in Tamil Nadu. The decision was taken in WPI Tamil Nadu executive committee meeting held in Trichy on Sunday.

The party's state secretary said that the party will face the election with alliance of parties except DMK, AIADMK, BJP and Congress, said a press statement from the party.
New office bearers:
In the recently concluded annual session of Young Indians (Trichy Chapter) on March 04, 2016, the CEO of CARE group of institutions Prative Chend Balasubramanian was elected as the chair and vice-chairman of Roever group of institutions John Ashok Varadarajan was elected as the co-chair of Young Indians Trichy chapter, said a press statement.
Demand for special train service:
Since ticket reservation in all trains from Tamil Nadu to Mandralayam are now full, the Thanjavur district rail users' association has requested the Southern Railways to kindly operate special trains between Trichy and Raichur via Kumbakonam, Chidambaram, Villupuram, Arakkonam, Renigunta and Mantralayam Road in the interest of the travelling public. The brindavanam (samati) of Shri Ragavendra swamigal is situated at Mantralayam in Karnataka. Annual Pattabishekam festival and Swamiji's jayanthi will be performed on March 10 and 15 respectively. The jeeva samati (brindavanam) of Shri Vijayeendra Theeththa swamigal, who is considered to be the Guruji of Ragavendra Swamiji, is situated in the famous temple town Kumbakonam.
