Used our alliance with DMK to raise public issues: CPM
Pudukkottai: CPM has been leveraging its alliance with DMK to highlight people's grievances before the govt, said the party's state secretary P Shanmugam at a campaign in support of the party's candidate M Chinnadurai in Gandharvakottai constituency on Saturday. "We have endeavoured to resolve public issues by utilising our alliance with the DMK," he said. "Several issues have remained unresolved across constituencies for decades and said it was unrealistic to expect a single MLA to address all concerns. What matters is whether elected representatives raise these issues in the assembly and bring them to the govt's attention," he added. On the long-pending demand for a pension scheme for govt employees and teachers, Shanmugam said CPM had taken up the issue with the chief minister. "Though reinstating the old pension scheme or continuing the new pension scheme may not be feasible, the chief minister has assured a viable alternative," he said, pointing to the recently announced assured pension scheme.
