Union govt unable to digest TN’s growth under DMK govt: Kamal
Trichy: Founder of MNM and a Rajya Sabha MP, Kamal Haasan on Monday said that the Union govt was unable to tolerate the growth of Tamil Nadu and had sidelined the state in its priorities.Campaigning in the Trichy–Thiruverumbur assembly constituency, Haasan extended support to Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi, who is contesting from Thiruverumbur. Addressing a gathering from atop a campaign vehicle, the MNM leader urged voters to back Poyyamozhi under the DMK's "Rising Sun" symbol, stressing that education remained the cornerstone of the region's progress. "The path to advancing Trichy lies in education. Anbil Mahesh has been walking this path with distinction, and as a result, Tamil Nadu has witnessed a significant rise in female education," he said, claiming a 34% increase.Praising the state govt initiatives, Haasan credited chief minister M K Stalin for launching the "Naan Mudhalvan" scheme and deputy chief minister Udhayanidhi Stalin for establishing an Olympic academy in the constituency. He further said that Poyyamozhi was effectively implementing educational reforms and deserved re-election to continue the momentum. Hitting out at the Centre, Haasan alleged that leaders in Delhi were driven by "envy" over Tamil Nadu's achievements in education, social justice and economic development. He also criticised Union minister Dharmendra Pradhan, accusing him of attempting to impose Hindi while withholding funds due to the state.
