Two youths drown in Cauvery river

TRICHY: Two youths from Chennai drowned on Thursday while playing in water in Cauvery river in Jeeyapuram on the outskirts of the city. Another youth who came along with them was rescued.
The deceased were identified as J Karthik, 23, a printing press employee of Ayanavaram, and K Kishore Kumar, 21, a private firm worker of Ambattur in Chennai. Two of them along with R Dhinesh Kumar, 23, brother of Kishore Kumar, came to visit M Raja, 32, of Andhanallur in Trichy, to attend a temple festival in the area a couple of days ago.
On Thursday afternoon, the three youths decided to take a dive in Cauvery at Pappan Padithurai. Unfortunately, two of them got trapped in quick sand and lost their lives before residents could safe them, however, Dhinesh Kumar was rescued. He was rushed to MGMGH for treatment. Hospital sources said his condition was stable.
