Top candidates’ nominations cleared in Trichy region

Trichy: Nominations of key candidates, including TVK chief Vijay (Trichy East), DMK's K N Nehru (Trichy West) and Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi (Thiruverumbur), were cleared during scrutiny on Tuesday.In Trichy district, 191 of the 276 nominations filed across nine assembly constituencies were accepted. The filing process was held from March 30 to April 6. In neighbouring Karur district, 175 of 234 nominations were cleared across four constituencies. The Karur assembly segment alone accounted for 108 nominations, of which 83 were accepted. In Pudukkottai district, nominations of ministers S Regupathy (Thirumayam) and Siva Meyyanathan, along with former minister and AIADMK MLA C Vijayabaskar (Viralimalai), were also cleared. A total of 123 nominations were accepted across six constituencies in the district.
