Trichy: Students should be taught AI models rather than be trained with anecdotal references, said N G Subramanian, chairman of Tata Communications and Tata Elxsi, at the ‘PACT for IMPACT' event at SASTRA Deemed University in Thanjavur on Saturday.
He lauded the university for collaborating with various organisations across multiple domains to capitalise on AI's growing opportunities and build indigenous capacity and resilience.
Subramanian said India is a geopolitically stable and trustworthy partner in the global AI ecosystem. "India's strength in leveraging the right set of digital tools around AI will be a game-changer," he said.
SASTRA signed MoUs with Zoho Corporation, City Union Bank, Centific Inc.,
IIT Ropar, Greaves Cotton, PRODAPT, and nStore for collaborative work in AI, Physical AI, agriculture sustainability, software engineering, advanced manufacturing, and mathematical modelling.
The event was attended by Shailesh Kumar Davey, CEO of Zoho; N Kamakodi, CEO & MD of City Union Bank, Rajeev Ahuja, director of IIT Ropar, R L Narasimhan, Centific India Head; Dhansharee Bhat, CDO of PRODAPT and others. S. Vaidhyasubramaniam, vice-chancellor of SASTRA, welcomed the gathering.
