Tamil Nadu polls: AIADMK candidate faints during campaign, rival visits her in hospital

TRICHY: AIADMK candidate and former MLA Elamathi Subramanian fainted in the scorching heat during her campaign near Thanjavur on Thursday. Her rival, DMK candidate and higher education minister Govi Chezhian, along with Congress MP R Sudha, visited her in hospital and inquired about her health.Elamathi Subramanian, Govi Chezhian, M Divyabharathi of NTK, and S Prabhakaran of TVK are contesting in Thiruvidaimarudur assembly constituency in Thanjavur district. On Thursday, Ilamathi Subramanian campaigned extensively, beginning from Aduthurai town panchayat and covering several villages.While campaigning in Vannakudi under the intense afternoon sun, she suddenly fainted. Party functionaries rushed her to a private hospital in Aduthurai, where doctors provided necessary care on finding that she had suffered exhaustion due to the heat. On learning about the incident, Govi Chezhian, Mayiladuthurai MP Sudha, and former DMK MP S Ramalingam halted their campaign and visited her at the hospital. Elamathi Subramanian later said she experienced a dizziness. After resting for a while, she continued with her campaign, and thanked everyone for inquiring about her well-being.
