Stalin warns of ‘trifurcation’, urges voters to back DMK

Trichy: Chief minister M K Stalin, campaigning in Perambalur on Thursday night, said the DMK must return to power to "protect Tamil Nadu," and warned that the BJP, if given an opportunity to govern the state, could attempt to trifurcate it into Union Territories, as was done in Jammu and Kashmir.

"Like how the BJP runs Puducherry through a Lieutenant Governor, they will try to emulate the same in Tamil Nadu. If AIADMK ‘slaves' come to power, there will be no Tamil Nadu," Stalin said.


Urging voters to back the Secular Progressive Alliance (SPA) in the assembly election, he said, "Setting aside political differences, people should support the SPA. The NDA — the New Delhi Alliance — must be defeated. The DMK should form the government for the seventh time, and I will serve a second term as chief minister."

He alleged that the BJP had more "detrimental" legislations in the pipeline.

Stalin also said he had asked VCK MP Thol Thirumavalavan and DMK MP A Raja to attend parliamentary proceedings instead of participating in the Perambalur campaign event.
