Schoolboys drown in Trichy pond
Trichy: Two schoolboys drowned in a pond at Edamalaipattipudhur, and their lifeless bodies were recovered during the late hours of Monday. The victims were identified as R Syed Kamaruddin, 11, and P Mohammed Adhil, 6, both residents of Ramachandra Nagar in Edamalaipattipudhur, Trichy.An investigation was initiated by the KK Nagar police. The unfortunate incident occurred on Monday after the boys left for their school, which is located in the vicinity. Concern arose when they did not return home, prompting their parents to launch a search. Eventually, the parents discovered their bicycles and clothing near Periyakulam, an area the boys often frequented.Suspecting the possibility of drowning, the parents promptly informed the police and sought assistance from the fire and rescue service personnel. After extensive efforts, the bodies of the boys were retrieved during the late hours of Monday. The bodies were shifted to Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Government Hospital (MGMGH), where a postmortem examination was conducted. On Tuesday evening, the bodies were handed over to the family members.TNN
