OPS should decided which side would benefit him: Nainar
Trichy: BJP state president Nainar Nagenthran said on Saturday that former AIADMK coordinator O Panneerselvam should decide which side would be beneficial for him in the forthcoming assembly election. Nainar's remarks come a day after Panneerselvam heaped praise on chief minister M K Stalin.
Speaking to reporters at Trichy airport, Nagenthran said, "We have respect for Panneerselvam. He should decide which political side would be more beneficial for him."
Asked about Panneerselvam meeting Stalin in the assembly, Nagenthran said anybody could meet Stalin. "Even I met the CM after the assembly session. So, we are not sure why Panneerselvam met him," he said.
Asked whether Panneerselvam sided with DMK because TN BJP could not arrange a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Nagenthran said such stories belonged to the past. "I spoke with Panneerselvam on several occasions after that issue," he said.
Meanwhile, Nagenthran released a report card to assess DMK's performance after it assumed office in 2021, alleging that DMK "failed" both in governance and in delivering its electoral promises.
Nagenthran pointed out that DMK leaders, including chief minister M K Stalin and MP K Kanimozhi, have been giving contradictory statements over time about the percentage of election promises fulfilled. "They have not implemented 90% of their election promises. They came to power with false promises and are now making more false poll promises," he said.
The BJP leader also claimed that law and order has deteriorated significantly over the past five years under the DMK govt. He asserted, "DMK could not provide good governance. They think of capturing power only with money and induct other parties into their alliance with money." He further stated that while the NDA remains strong, the DMK alliance has become weak.
Nagenthran visited Trichy to inspect potential venues and make preliminary arrangements for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's scheduled visit on March 10.
