Police stated that NTK had incorporated images of LTTE leaders into their digital promotional materials. As a result, the functionaries faced charges under sections 3 and 4 of the Tamil Nadu Open Places (Prevention of Disfigurement) Act for displaying objectionable advertisements. They also attracted additional charges under BNS sections 285 (causing obstructions in public pathways) and 292 (causing public nuisance) for unauthorized placement of these materials.
The conference began around 4pm and ended at approximately 9.35pm, with Seeman addressing the crowd from 7pm until 9.35pm.
However, police had granted permission only from 3pm to 9pm. Consequently, a second case was registered against the NTK functionaries under BNS sections 189 (unlawful assembly), 223 (disobedience to a public order), and 292 (public nuisance).
A third case arose due to traffic disruptions caused by vehicles carrying NTK cadres. The functionaries were charged under BNS sections 189 (unlawful assembly), 281 (rash or negligent driving), 292 (public nuisance), along with relevant provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act.
