Thanjavur: Deputy chief minister
Udhayanidhi Stalin on Sunday described NDA as an alliance comprising parties with ‘punctured tyres.' Addressing a DMK youth wing event in Thanjavur, Udhayanidhi, without taking names, referred to remarks made earlier by AMMK's T T V Dhinakaran against
Edappadi K Palaniswami before the former recently joined NDA.
"One person said it would be better to hang himself than be in an alliance with Palaniswami. Another said Palaniswami has no merit and is not even qualified to become a councillor. In such a situation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi says Tamil Nadu needs a double-engine govt. Prime Minister Modi, look at your alliance vehicle — everyone in it has flat tyres. A vehicle with punctured tyres and a non-functioning ‘dabba' engine will never run in Tamil Nadu," he said.
Udhayanidhi said the upcoming election would be a fight between social justice and social injustice. "On the other side, there was a faction ‘roaming around without benefiting anyone.' "They have no policy, ideals, or principles, and lack even basic political understanding. There is only noise. They think politics is entertainment. Politics is about serving the people. The DMK youth must demonstrate that it stands for commitment and dedication," he said.
He said fascism and slavery must be driven away, and that the assembly election would be a battle between Delhi and Tamil Nadu. "The frontline warriors in this battle are the youth. We must prove that Tamil Nadu will never bow down to Delhi," he said. Earlier , he inaugurated a bus stand in Pattukkottai. Speaking on the occasion, he reiterated that DMK had thwarted attempts by BJP to stall Kalaignar Mahalir Urimai Thogai (KMUT) scheme. "The success of our schemes has made the entire country look up to Tamil Nadu," he added. He was accompanied by ministers Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi, S Regupathy, Govi Chezhian at the events.
