Narcotic tablets worth Rs 9cr seized in Pudukkottai
Pudukkottai: The Pudukkottai town police arrested four people and seized narcotic tablets worth Rs 9.6 crore from them. Police said the arrested were planning to smuggle the contraband to Sri Lanka.Police inspector G Sukumaran received information about four suspicious-looking people in the fish market area on Saturday. He and his team went there and found A Armstrong, 33, P Amalraj, 37, P Pratap, 35, and D Sandhya, 36, all from Rameswaram, standing there with cardboard boxes. When police questioned them, they gave contradictory replies. Subsequently, police searched the boxes and found 4.82 lakh Pregabalin and Tanydol tablets valued at Rs 9.64 crore in the illegal market.

The arrested were remanded in judicial custody. District superintendent of police Abhishek Gupta said the accused were waiting for a vehicle to move the contraband when they were nabbed. A special team has been set up to investigate the case.
