Murder accused dies in prison

Trichy: A 50-year-old remand prisoner interned at Trichy central prison died on Monday. Police said M Anbazhagan, from Subramaniankadu in Vedaranyam block in Nagapattinam district, was accused of murdering his father V Murugaiyan on March 10, 2020. The Voimedu police arrested Anbazhagan and he was lodged at Trichy prison while the trial was in progress in Nagapattinam. Sources said Anbazhagan was suffering from tuberculosis. He developed complications on July 9 and was admitted to Trichy GH, where he died on Monday. An autopsy was conducted. Police registered a case and are investigating.
