Hyderabad student found dead: Lost money in online betting; loan, harassment linked to suicide

HYDERABAD: A 20-year-old man was found dead in Dundigal on Sunday. Police suspect that the youth died by suicide after suffering losses in online betting.Dundigal police said that T Ramakanth, a student of a private engineering college, had taken a loan and spent the money on online betting. After suffering losses, he defaulted on repayment of the loan to the financier, identified as Gunasekar.Unable to bear the alleged harassment, the youth asked his father to lend him Rs 10000. Again, a month ago, he asked his father for Rs 34,000. On Sunday, Gunasekhar allegedly went to Ramakanth's place and snatched away his laptop demanding repayment of his loan. Ramakanth then confided in his father about the harassment. He was later found dead on Monday. An investigation is on.
