Minor among two booked for assaulting pregnant woman

Trichy: Two people, including a minor boy, were booked by the police for assaulting a pregnant woman near Thottiyam in Trichy. Police said the attack was a fallout of enmity over a land dispute between the families.Police said the incident occurred around 10.10am on Sunday in front of a private hospital at Balasamudram. The accused, B Hema, 36, and a 16-year-old boy, both neighbours of the complainant picked up a quarrel with the woman when they came across her on the road.According to the complaint, the duo abused the woman R Sathya, 19, and assaulted her with their hands and slippers. They allegedly kicked her on the abdomen and threatened her, despite knowing that she was pregnant. Sathya sustained injuries and internal injuries and complained of abdominal pain. She was admitted to a govt hospital. A case has been registered, and further investigation is under way.
