Man arrested under SC/ST Act for posting derogatory reels

Trichy: A 34-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday by the GH police in Trichy for posting objectionable and derogatory content targeting a community on social media.The accused, identified as Dheenathayalan P, of MGR Nagar in Puthur, was booked under various provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities).Police said the case was registered after Dheenathayalan uploaded reels and stories on his Instagram account, containing derogatory remarks against members of a particular community. The posts were also to have included threatening content that could incite communal tension and provoke clashes between members of different communities.Based on the complaint, the GH police registered a case and launched an investigation. The accused was arrested and later remanded in judicial custody.
