Infant killed as bus rams scooter

Trichy: A four-month-old infant girl was killed and her parents were injured when a long distance private bus hit their scooter from behind in Trichy city on Sunday evening. Police identified the deceased as A Saral, daughter of R Anguraj and A Nivetha, residing near Linga Nagar.Around 6pm on Sunday, the couple along with their daughter were travelling on a scooter on Konakkarai Road near Woraiyur. While approaching a courier office on the road, a private bus (RKT Omni Bus), driven by R Perumal of Musiri, rammed the scooter from behind in a rash and negligent manner, police said.In the impact, the infant was thrown off the vehicle, while the mother and father fell on the road. The baby was killed on the spot while her parents sustained injuries to their legs. They were admitted to a private hospital. Traffic North investigation wing police seized the bus and registered a case against the driver for causing death by negligence.
