Trichy: More than 7,000 people participated in a running event organised by Kauvery Hospital in Trichy on Sunday. The aim of the event was to create awareness among the public on
organ donation.
Participants took part in three categories — 5km, 10km and 21km. Winners in all categories were given cash prizes of 3 lakh combined.
The 5-km run was flagged off by minister for municipal administration K N Nehru from Students Road at 6.45am.
Mayor M Anbalagan was present. The 10-km run was flagged off by city commissioner of police N Kamini from Students Road while district superintendent of police P V Varun Kumar flagged off the 21-km half-marathon from Vignesh Vidhalaya at 5am.
Founder and executive director of the hospital Manivannan Selvaraj and co-founder D Senguttuvan were present. This is the eighth time such event is organised in the city by the hospital.
