Govt bus mows down two in Pudukottai

Trichy: Two people were killed after a govt bus hit a two-wheeler and a pedestrian near Manamelkudi in Pudukottai district on Tuesday. Police said S Murugan, 45, a bricklayer from Thandalai near Manamelkudi, was on his way to the town to buy tea for workers engaged in construction work when the accident occurred. His motorcycle was hit by a TNSTC bus proceeding from Vedaranyam to Tiruchendur near Vadakkuru Amman temple. The bus also struck Senbhakavalli, 60, a resident of Madhukkuru, who was waiting by the roadside to board a bus. Murugan and Senbhakavalli sustained severe injuries and died on the spot, police said. Manamelkudi police registered a case, arrested bus driver Selvakumar, and are investigating further.
