Gang hacks murder-accused to death

Trichy: A 31-year-old murder accused was hacked to death by an armed gang in Pudukottai on Thursday in what police suspect was a revenge killing. The deceased, K Jayasuman, a resident of Gandhinagar, was an accused in the murder of one Dinesh Kumar near Pudhukulam on June 4 last year.According to sources, Jayasuman was recently released on bail. On Thursday, he went to a liquor shop near Ashok Nagar bus stop along with his friend Raj Kapoor on a two-wheeler to consume liquor. While they were travelling on Pudukottai–Alangudi Road near Alangudi bus stop, a six-member gang intercepted them. Seeing the gang, Raj Kapoor fled, but the assailants attacked Jayasuman with deadly weapons, hacking him to death on the spot.Pudukottai police sent the body to Government Medical College hospital for post-mortem. Ganesh Nagar police have registered a case and initiated an investigation. Police are searching for associates of Dinesh Kumar for the suspected revenge killing.
