Electronic gadgets, laptops stolen

TRICHY: Burglars stole a laptop and some electronic gadgets from Veterinary University Training and Research Centre on Poultry Farm Road here on Monday. In another case, a laptop was lifted from a passenger on board a town bus in the city.

Head of the centre, professor Dr P N Richard Jagadheesan, lodged a complaint with the KK Nagar police saying that a laptop and CD player were missing when he came to his office on Monday morning. The complainant said that the thief had lifted the items through a window of the office. The KK Nagar police registered a case.

The laptop of a passenger, M Hari Narayanan, 30, from KK Nagar was stolen when he was on board a city bus at the central bus stand on Sunday night. He lodged a complaint with the police on Monday following which a case was registered.

Laptop theft

on board buses from the central bus stand has been a regular occurrence for a long time now. It is more prevalent on buses plying from central bus stand in Trichy to Coimbatore, Salem, Chennai and Bengaluru. It may be recalled that the Cantonment police had arrested R Muthuraman, 40 from Ramji Nagar in connection with the theft of 10 laptops from several places including central bus stand in March this year. The police have advised passengers to keep the laptops close to them.
