DMK allies get 11 constituencies
Trichy: DMK has allocated 11 constituencies in central TN to its allies, including Thuraiyur, Sirkazhi, and Nannilam which it had contested in 2021, according to the list of candidates for the assembly election released on Saturday.Thuraiyur in Trichy district, Mayiladuthurai, and Aranthangi in Pudukottai have been bagged by Indian National Congress (INC). Manithaneya Makkal Katchi (MMK) has been given Manapparai and Nagapattinam seats. The CPM has received two reserved constituencies: Kilvelur in Nagapattinam district and Gandharvakottai in Pudukottai district.Four other allies have been allotted one seat each. The reserved constituencies of Sirkazhi in Mayiladuthurai district and Thiruthuraipoondi in Tiruvarur district have gone to MDMK and CPI respectively. Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) and Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) have received one seat each - Papanasam in Thanjavur district and Nannilam in Tiruvarur district respectively.Papanasam has been shifted from MMK to IUML, while Nagapattinam has moved from VCK to MMK. Manapparai, Mayiladuthurai, Kilvelur, Thiruthuraipoondi, and Gandharvakottai have been retained by the same parties that contested there in 2021.MMK president and incumbent MLA from Papanasam, M H Jawahirullah will contest from Nagapattinam. P Abdul Samad, the sitting MLA from Manapparai, will re-contest on behalf of MMK.
