TRICHY: A 45-year-old private company employee from Chennai was found dead on the tracks of Trichy-Chennai section near Manapparai during the early hours on Tuesday. Railway police have registered a case and are investigating.
According to Government Railway Police (GRP), the deceased has been identified as Saravanavel, a resident of Vannarapettai in Chennai.

Saravanavel had gone to a temple at Sathur in Viruthunagar along with 60 of his relatives and friends a few days ago. After offering puja, they were returning to Chennai on Nellai express during the night hours on Monday.
However, when the train reached Chennai Egmore station, they noticed that Saravanavel was missing. Shocked over the incident, the group members lodged a complaint with the Government Railway Police at Egmore.
Meanwhile, some passersby had noticed a body lying along the tracks on Trichy-Chennai section near Manapparai on Tuesday morning. Based on the complaint lodged at the Egmore station, the Government Railway Police had started to probe the case. Upon investigation, the police found that Saravanan had accidentally fallen from the train at night and sustained grievous injuries and subsequently had succumbed to the injuries. The body was sent to the government hospital in Trichy for postmortem and further enquiries are on, police said.
