Biker killed, another injured after truck hits bike

Trichy: A 27-year-old motorcyclist was killed and another rider was injured when a container lorry hit one of the bikes near Mannarpuram in Trichy on Thursday night. Police identified the deceased as T Paramasivam, of Edamalaipatti Pudur. Police said Paramasivam was riding his bike on the road from the Aristo bridge towards Mannarpuram. At the time, a light commercial container truck collided with Paramasivam's bike. In the impact, Paramasivam's bike hit the bike of V Govindaraj, 53, from Ariyamangalam. Paramasivam suffered head injuries and died on the spot. Govindaraj suffered injuries on hands and was rushed to Trichy Govt Hospital. Police recovered Paramasivam's body, and sent it to the hospital for postmortem.Police registered a case against truck driver P Silambarasan, 27, from Ariyamangalam under sections 281, 125(a), and 106(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and are investigating.
