TRICHY: The Bengali Association Trichy has planned to celebrate the Durga Pooja festival for five days from October 20 at the Bhel’s Kailasapuram township on the outskirts of the city.


The association said that the festival would serve as an opportunity for the local population to experience the traditional celebration of West Bengal. The celebrations will be conducted at Kailasapuram club in B sector, near the boiler plant post office in Bhel township.

Between October 20 and October 24, organisers said that prayers and rituals are planned both in the morning (7 am) and evening hours (7 pm).

“People hailing from different states who are working in NIT, IIM, Bharathidasan Institute of Management, and Ordnance factories in various parts of Trichy have confirmed their participation. During the festival, Annadhanam (free food) will be provided to around 1,500 people,” Amit Ray, vice president of Bengali Association Trichy said.
