pension

here on Monday.


During the weekly grievance day meet at Trichy collector office on Monday, Sundaram made yet another attempt to get the freedom fighters pension sanctioned from the central government. With a placard hanging from his neck, the nonagenarian submitted a petition to the officials concerned during the meet. According to his petition, he was active in the fight for freedom during the British rule in India. He claimed that he took part in Dandi March and Quit India movement besides languishing in prison. The placard also mentioned his one year ordeal to avail the pension from the central government despite his repeated appeals.

He and his wife Renganayagi, 75, were residing in a tiled-roof house. The couple had a daughter and son. His son S Mahendran, 42 accompanied him to the collector office and said that his father had to try hard to get the pension from the state government.
