8.5kg ganja seized in Trichy Junction

Trichy: Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel at Trichy Junction railway station seized 8.5kg of ganja abandoned near a platform on Sunday. The seized contraband was valued at 4.2 lakh. RPF said that a special team was monitoring the election model code of conduct at Trichy Junction on platform No. 5. At around 2.25am, soon after the Purulia-Tirunelveli superfast train (train number 22605) left the junction, the RPF team spotted a dark blue shoulder bag abandoned near an escalator adjacent to the platform. On examining the bag, RPF found four wrapped bundles of dry ganja weighing 8.5kg. The contraband was handed over to the Narcotics Investigation Bureau (NIB) for further legal action.
