She had booked tickets to go to Chennai on Saturday morning. Her husband Aruldas, who is a teacher, is living in Erode.
Explaining the modus operandi of the robbers, cops said that the miscreants had followed an old formula of locking other houses in vicinity while looting the targeted house. They had locked two houses on the first floor, which were rented out by Amutha. On Saturday morning, when people in the neighborhood came to know about the incident, they informed the police, who broke open the doors of the houses, which were locked.
Thiruverumbur police inspector Baskaran said that the miscreants had wiped the house clean and that they had even taken the set top box, and a DVD player with them. It transpired that the robbers had kept track of Amutha's movements and they committed the crime with much ease.
The investigation is on and no one has been arrested so far.
