T'puram: The crime branch team, probing the death of Varkala native Yazna, 30, in Sharjah allegedly due to dowry harassment, has sent a request to UAE govt demanding deportation of the three accused in the case.
The request was made to deport Yazna's husband Shamnad, 36, of Kavalayoor, Varkala, along with his mother Rajeena, 56, and sister Fathima, 30.
Yazna was found hanging at her house in Sharjah while living with Shamnad and their five-year-old son in March 2024. Earlier, the probe team issued a lookout circular and a request was sent to Interpol demanding deportation of the three accused.
"We collected crucial evidence against the accused proving their involvement in Yazna's death. WhatsApp chats, recorded conversations, audio clips and statements of witnesses are against the accused, and the probe into the case is almost over. Since they are in a foreign country, there will be procedural delay in arresting them," the probe team said.
Meanwhile, Yazna's family alleged that the accused is planning to marry a Pakistani woman and shift to a different country. "We came to know that Shamnad is all set to marry a Pakistani woman and the family is leading a happy and peaceful life despite stringent legal measures being taken against them," said Yazmin Ibrahim, Yazna's sister.
Yazna's father Ibrahim said, "130 sovereigns of gold, 22 cents and Rs 10 lakh were given as dowry at the time of marriage, but he was greedy and tortured my daughter demanding even more."
"She used to hide all her issues from us so that we don't get upset. But she conveyed the issues to her friend and we transferred the chats and voice clips to the probe team. We need justice as she was killed for more dowry," he added.
