THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Karamana police on Thursday late night found the putrefying body of a woman and her toddler son in their house at Nedumcaud near Karamana. Police identified the deceased as Manju (38) two-and-a-half-year-old Abhishek.
Police said that their body was found hanging from the roof of a room on the first floor of the house.

“The doctors who conducted the postmortem said that the boy was strangulated to death,” he said. It is suspected that Manju killed her son first and then hung herself. The bodies were at least two days old.
A suicide note recovered from her body said that she was tired of this life and hence ending her life.
However, it is learnt that it was the compulsive alcoholism of her husband that led her to take the extreme step. Her husband Renjith was a chronic alcoholic and was ailing from liver-related diseases. He continued to drink, ignoring the family. As a result both of them got estranged. But Renjith used to visit the house occasionally.
Police took Renjith into custody and questioned him. The bodies were cremated on Friday after autopsy.
