Thiruvananthapuram corporation welcomes state budget

Thiruvananthapuram: The city corporation has welcomed the state budget presented by the finance minister Thomas Issac on Friday. Mayor V K Prashanth said that the budget allocates funds worth Rs 2000 crores for various development projects to be carried out in the city.

The budget aims at providing housing for all through EMS housing scheme and Laksham veedu project. Besides the budget provides financial assistance for landless people to buy three cents of land.

Prashanth said that while the UDF government tried to burden lsg institutions with regard to raising the wages of anganwadi workers and helpers, the state budget cites that the amount required for the rise could be borne equally by the state government and the city corporation.

The budget proposes under passages at Peroorkada and Pattom and flyovers at Ulloor and Kumarapuram. An amount of Rs 15 crores has been set aside for Venjaramoodu ring road.
