Singer Udayabhanu chosen for Academy award

THRISSUR: Well known playback singer K P Udayabhanu, stage artiste Santhadevi and Kathakali exponent Kavungal Chathunni Panikcer were among the artistes selected for the Kerala Sangetha Nataka Academy's fellowship for 2003.

THRISSUR: Well known playback singer K P Udayabhanu, stage artiste Santhadevi and Kathakali exponent Kavungal Chathunni Panikcer were among the artistes selected for the Kerala Sangetha Nataka Academy''s fellowship for 2003 for their outstanding contribution to respective fields.
The fellowship and awards were announced by the Academy Chairman and playwright Kavalam Narayana Panicker on Saturday.

N P Ramaswamy and Mathangi Sathyamurthy were selected for awards in the category of vocal music and T V Ramani for violin.
"While awards in Mirdhangam went to Kadavanadu V K Gopi and Cherthala A K Ramachandran, Vadakara Krishnadas and Darshan Raman bagged awards for excellence in light music," Panicker added.
