THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state cabinet approved a financial action plan of Rs 133 crore for the Kannur airport.
"The amount is being sanctioned to bridge the viability gap as there will be delay in getting loans from banks," said chief minister Oommen Chandy after the cabinet meeting.
This would be released as grant by including it in the budgetary allocation of this year. In the project information memorandum and the project report of the Kannur airport an amount of Rs 133 crore was kept as the financial action plan for the next five years.

The runway tender of the airport has been fixed and the construction works are at the beginning stage. It is expected that the airport would start functioning by 2015, said the chief minister.
The cabinet also approved a revised administrative sanction of Rs 242.47 crore for the Kochi Metro works. The cabinet had earlier accorded a sanction for Rs 158.62 crore, which has been revised now.
The annual income limit of the TB, leprosy and
cancer patients - to get the monthly financial aid from the government - was fixed at Rs 2,400 for years. Now, the state cabinet has decided to increase this limit up to Rs 1 lakh per annum so as to benefit more people. The monthly aid given is Rs 800 to these patients.
For the Arogyakiranam project, the state cabinet decided to release Rs 12.87 crore as its share for this year's schemes. Irrespective of the APl/BPL divide the project will provide financial assistance to all for getting treatment from government hospitals. However, the tax payers and government employees will not be entitiled for this benefit.
It has also been decided to sanction an additional 188 posts for the Thrissur medical college hospital. Similarly 11 new posts will be created in the minority commission. The cabinet decided that the ninth pay commission recommendations will be applicable for the permanent employees of Child Development Centre.
