Resul Pookutty new chairman of Kerala State Chalachitra Academy

T'puram: Govt named Oscar-winning sound designer Resul Pookutty as the new chairman of Kerala State Chalachitra Academy on Friday. Actor and AMMA general secretary Kuku Parameswaran was appointed vice-chairperson, while C Ajoy will take charge as secretary.A fresh 26-member governing council was constituted for a three-year term, which also applies to the chairperson and vice-chairperson posts.The general council includes actors and filmmakers such as Santosh Keezhattur, Nikhila Vimal, B Rakesh, Sudheer Karamana, Reji M Damodaran, Sithara Krishnakumar, Minhaj Meder, Sohan Seenulal, G S Vijayan, Syam Pushkaran, Amal Neerad, Saju Navodaya, N Arun, Poojappura Radhakrishnan and U Sriganesh, among others.The new body succeeds the council that came to office in Jan 2022 when filmmaker Ranjith was appointed chairman. Ranjith stepped down following the controversy triggered by the release of the Hema Committee report, after which then vice-chairman Premkumar assumed interim charge.
