The decision was taken during the politburo meeting held in New Delhi on Saturday.
The commission will examine the CPM state committee's complaints against opposition leader V S Achuthanandan and VS's complaint against the party leadership.
The P Karunakaran commission report, which has severely criticized VS, will also come under the purview of the enquiry. The PB commission will submit its interim report to the central committee before its next meeting on August 17 and 18.
The PB meeting endorsed the demand for chief minister Oommen Chandy's resignation and a judicial inquiry. The PB also supported the call for an indefinite strike to press this demand.
"The solar panel scam in Kerala is not an ordinary case of fraud and cheating. The involvement of some of the staff in the chief minister's office has come out; one of them has been arrested. Chandy's links in the affair have also surfaced", said a communiqué issued by the politburo.
