Police arrested the a youth for killing his cousin brother.

ALAPPUZHA: A 28-year-old- youth was arrested by Haripad Police on Monday for allegedly killing his cousin brother. The arrested has been identified as Ratheesh, son of Pushkaran Nediyath, Vettiveni, Haripad. He allegedly killed his cousin brother Dhanesh,(Kannan-25), son of Mohanan, Nediyath, Vettiveni.

The murder took place around 9 pm on Sunday and Ratheesh hit Dhanesh's head with shock absorber of motorcycle. Dhanesh suffered severe head injuries and he died on the way to Haripad Taluk Hospital. Ratheesh is accused in many criminal cases including murder case.

Haripad circle inspector R Jose said Ratheesh, who is welder work, was an addict to alcohol and both the accused and the victim fought each other earlier. Two months ago, Ratheesh was allegedly beaten by Dhanesh and Ratheesh lost his tooth. On Sunday night, Ratheesh, the son of victim's aunty, came to Dhanesh home after consuming alcohol.

Dhanesh's murder was pre-planned one. After the murder, Ratheesh escaped from the spot and he was hiding on a terrace of home near Haripad. The police traced him and arrested on Monday. He will be produced before the Haripad Judicial First Class Magistrate Court on Tuesday.

Dhanesh, who was a welding worker, leaves behind his mother Lalitha, wife Chithra and son Kashi. His body was handed over to his kin after completing legal and medical examinations.
