THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The mortal remains of Noushad Majeed, a para-glider who went missing in the sea during a flight attempt on Monday, were laid to rest at Puthukurichi Mosque cemetery on Saturday. A huge throng of villagers paid their last respect to Noushad. Noushad’s body was found washed ashore near Puthukurussi by locals on Saturday around 5 am after he went missing in Muthalapozhi estuary six days ago.
The local people could identify the body of Noushad as it was entangled in the glider he used.
The body had earlier been spotted on Friday night, but rough waves kept the rescue team at bay. A postmortem was conducted.
Police sources said they are yet to confirm the reason behind the accidental death, but suspected that technical glitches and inclement weather could have caused the tragedy. Diving experts of Navy, Coast Guard, Coastal Police and divers from Vizhinjam had conducted massive search operations to find Noushad.
Noushad leaves behind wife Sheeja and four children.
