New biweekly train from Kochuveli to Bangalore flagged off

was flagged off by union minister of State (Independent charge) for tourism Alphons Kannanthanam at Kochuveli railway station on Saturday. The regular operation of the

biweekly train

number 16320 Banaswadi – Kochuveli Humsafar express will commence from Banaswadi on Sunday.


“A new train service to Bangalore had been long pending demand of passengers. It will benefit the passengers who have to depend on bus services to Bangalore,” said Alphons Kannanthanam, in his inaugural address.

Train number 16319 Kochuveli – Banaswadi Humsafar express (Bi-weekly) will leave Kochuveli at 6.05 pm on Thursdays and Saturdays to reach Banaswadi at 10.45 am on Fridays and Sundays.

In return journey, train number 16320 Banaswadi – Kochuveli Humsafar express (Bi-weekly) will leave Banaswadi at 7 pm on Fridays and Sundays to reach Kochuveli at 9.05 am on Saturdays and Mondays.

The train with AC 3-tier coaches will stop at Kollam, Chengannur, Kottayam, Ernakulam Town, Thrissur, Palakkad, Coimbatore, Erode, Salem, Bangarapet, Whitefield and Krishnarajapuram.

Meanwhile, Shashi Tharoor MP walked out of the inaugural function, alleging violation of all norms governing such functions, for excluding him from the advertisement of the flag off of a train.

The function was attended by minister for tourism Kadakampally Surendran, A Sampath MP and O Rajagopal MLA.
